Tesla driver in Utah crash admits to using Autopilot while looking at phone

The driver of a Tesla Model S that crashed into a fire authority truck in Utah late Friday told police she was using the car's Autopilot feature at the time of the accident.

In a statement, the South Jordan Police Department said the driver admitted that she was looking at her phone prior to the collision.

The police said, based on witness information, the driver did not brake or take any other action to avoid the crash.

The Tesla was traveling at 60 mph when it hit the truck, which was stopped at a light.
